ABOUT PERMACULTURE

What is Permaculture??? Thinking tools, that when used together, allow us to creatively re-design our environment and our behavior in a world of less energy and resources
Permaculture is a creative design process based on whole-systems thinking informed by ethics and design principles that feature as follows.
This approach guides us to mimic the patterns and relationships we can find in nature and can be applied to all aspects of human habitation, from agriculture to ecological building, from appropriate technology to education and even economics.

By adopting the ethics and applying these principles in our daily life we can make the transition from being dependent consumers to becoming responsible producers. This journey builds skills and resilience at home and in our local communities that will help us prepare for an uncertain future with less available energy.
The techniques and strategies used to apply these principles vary widely depending on the location, climatic conditions and resources that are available. The methods may differ, but the foundations to this wholistic approach remain constant. By learning these principles you can acquire valuable thinking tools that help you become more resilient in an era of change.

●Central to permaculture is Three Ethics

1 Earth Care
2 People Care

● Attitudinal Principles

* Problem is the Solution: every resource is either an advantage or disadvantage, depending on the use made of it.
* The Yield is Theoretically Unlimited: the only limit to the number of uses of a resource within a system is only limited to the information and imagination of the designer.
* Work with Nature, Not Against: We need to assist rather than impede natural processes, essential to comprehend and copy.
* Everything Gardens: every creature sets up conditions so that it can thrive. They create and carve their niche in an interconnected web of life.
* Least Change for the Greatest Effect: When designing, use our intuition to guide the inherent regenerative qualities so that energy is not squandered.
When you put all of these Permaculture Design principles together, the flower of life pattern unfurls. Each one of these is an example of a circle within that sacred pattern, each circle overlapping.
